Transforming My Relationship with Food: A Journey of Healing

Meet Lisa, a courageous soul who embarked on a transformative journey to break free from the grips of emotional eating. For years, Lisa found herself trapped in a cycle of over-ordering and using food to fill an emotional void within her. She believed that she needed to eat in order to fill that empty space, seeking solace in every bite. Reflecting back on her childhood, Lisa remembered being told that she had to eat everything on her plate, regardless of her own feelings of fullness. Her words were often dismissed, and the belief that children should be seen and not heard became deeply ingrained.

It felt ridiculous, but her grandparents, whom she adored, simply didn’t know any better. So, Lisa did as she was told, and this pattern continued into adulthood. Now, as an adult, Lisa struggles to leave food on her plate. She feels a sense of obligation to finish every last bite, even when her body is signalling fullness. The power to say no resides within her, but the echoes of her past still linger.

She yearned to break free from this cycle and find a healthier relationship with food. Indecision often plagued Lisa when ordering meals. She found herself wanting both options, driven by a fear of missing out. It was a trait she deemed as terrible, but deep down, she knew there was a reason behind it. Lisa felt that in the past, she must have missed out on something important, and now, she overcompensates by wanting it all. But today, we celebrate Lisa’s incredible journey of self-discovery and healing.
